Pregnancy, Child Birth and Labor Acupuncture and Child Birth Induction Acupuncture induction is safe for the mother and the baby. It gently encourages the baby to start moving downward and allows the cervix to dilate. This treatment is slow and safe. One advantage is that labor is brought on so slowly that it is not overwhelming or dangerous to the child and/or mother. Some examples follow: One woman's water broke two hours after treatment and anothers broke the next morning-- most women have their children within two days of induction. Acupuncture induction treatments last about one hour, and in most cases, only one treatment is necessary. Occasionally two or three treatments where are necessary depending on the age and health of the mother. Health Maintenance The best way to support the mother and child through the whole term is to receive acupuncture treatments during pregnancy. This allows the vital life energy, “Qi”, to stay strong, benefiting the overall health of the child and mother. Acupuncture has been known to help morning sickness and fatigue during pregnancy. Women who have received acupuncture for nine months report having an easier pregnancy, delivery and recovery! Acupuncture needles are pre-sterilized and are used only one time before proper disposal.
