Reiki (ray-key) which can be translated as “universal life force” is an ancient healing method involving the laying on of hand, rediscovered in Japan by Mikao Usui approximately 100 years ago. During a Reiki session the client is fully clothed. Energy is channeled through the practitioner and into the client where it works on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of the client and brings the whole person into harmony. With a simple laying on of hands, the practitioner can replenish energy to strengthen the immune system and ward off disease. Conscious or unconscious thought patterns that may have been created during an injury or aid in perpetuating a disorder, associated emotions, limiting belief systems, and the physical symptoms themselves are all addressed by the Reiki practitioner.

Reiki views energy in an opposite way to which we are generally accustomed. Rather than believing that fields of energy radiate out from and are created by our bodies, Reiki assumes instead that it is the larger energy field that creates our physical bodies, thoughts and emotions. Since the practitioner is only acting as a channel for the energy, neither client nor practitioner can take on each other’s energies. Instead, both receive healing benefits. Reiki not only promotes your physical well-being, but also has a positive affect on your emotional and spiritual equilibrium. After a session many people feel refreshed, relaxed, clearer and more content in themselves.
